Congolese media reports reported that players and members of the Congo Brazzaville national team refused to travel to Agadir, to face the Moroccan national team next Tuesday, for the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, after they withdrew from facing Niger, last Thursday, for the third round of the same qualifiers.

According to the same reports, players and members of the technical staff of the Congolese national team refuse to go to Morocco today, in preparation for facing the “Lions”, due to many internal problems, including forcing the mission to bear the preparation expenses, in addition to the Congolese Minister of Sports intending to reserve tickets for the round trip, with urging The mission had to arrange return tickets with its own money, not to mention some other disputes.

A source from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation revealed, in statements to Hesport, that no decision had been reached from the Congolese Federation regarding withdrawal from next Tuesday’s match, adding: “The Moroccan side is preparing for the match normally.” The Congolese national team was given a license this morning for its plane to land in Moroccan territory.”

The same source continued: “What we know is that the travel procedures for the Congolese national team are ongoing, and we have not been informed of any development regarding the fate of the match.” The Congolese national team is experiencing many internal problems, and what is being promoted may be attempts by the players to pressure them to obtain their outstanding dues.”

It is scheduled, according to the Congolese national team’s trip programme, that the “Red Devils” delegation will arrive in Agadir this evening, with a light training session to relieve fatigue, and an official training session will be held tomorrow evening on the “Adrar” stadium at the same time as the confrontation.

The Moroccan national team leads its group in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup with six points, followed by Zambia, Niger and Tanzania with three points, while Congo bottoms the standings with 0 points.
