The Complexity Science Hub is reinventing itself – 2024-02-24 01:45:16

New logo, new claim, new address for the CSH

Vienna (OTS) Black, white and crystal clear: The Complexity Science Hub now appears on a new website with a new design and new claim (

What began with three scientists and an idea in 2015 grew into a scientific center for complexity research where around 80 people from over 25 countries now work and research.

Crystal clear answers

“We deal with complex issues, but our goal is to find crystal-clear answers to current and future social challenges“, explains CSH President Stefan Thurner about the relaunch of the CSH. The new claim with the old goal: We Are Europe’s Research Center Translating Data into Solutions for a Better World.

The central element of the new logo is a star, which represents a node in networks. “Networks underlie the vast majority of aspects of society, be it the delivery network, healthcare or science as a wholesays Thurner.

To find out how these networks work, what dependencies there are, what makes them more resilient and efficient, CSH scientists translate data from a range of disciplines – economics, medicine, ecology, social sciences – into applicable solutions. The CSH itself is a node in a global network where data and know-how flow in and out.

well-being of the individual

Not only has the research team itself grown, but also the range of research topics. “On the one hand, with the new Complexity Science Hub website we want to show how interdisciplinary complexity research is – just like the problems of our time. On the other hand, we also want to prepare scientific findings in such a way that they are accessible to all parts of society“, explains Thurner. From scientific publications in over ten subject areas to interactive tools and visualizations to the training of young researchers, the new CSH website makes it possible to explore scientific findings from different perspectives.

It is no coincidence that the new logo can therefore also be viewed as a symbol for people. “People are at the center of our research. Everything we research should benefit society and the well-being of the individual – in this sense we live digital humanism“, says Thurner.

The CSH thanks WHY. Studio for the design and implementation of the new CSH website and corporate identity.

About the Complexity Science Hub

The Complexity Science Hub (CSH) is Europe’s scientific center for research into complex systems. We translate data from a range of disciplines – business, medicine, ecology, social sciences – into actionable solutions for a better world. Founded in 2015, over 70 scientists now conduct research at the CSH, driven by the growing need for a sound understanding of the relationships that underlie our society – from healthcare to supply chains. With our interdisciplinary methods, we develop the skills to find answers to current and future challenges.

Members of the CSH are AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, BOKU, Central European University (CEU), Medical University of Vienna, TU Vienna, TU Graz, University of Continuing Education Krems, Vetmeduni Vienna, Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ). csh.ac.at
