The ‘Combined Council’ won all the posts under the leadership of SM Mannan Kochi – 2024-03-11 12:26:10

The ‘Combined Parishad’ led by SM Mannan Kochi has won the full panel of the Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) elections for the term 2024-2026.

Polling was held from 10 am on Saturday (March 9) at the BGMEA complex in the capital’s Uttara, continuing non-stop till 5 pm. On the same day, Chittagong region polling was held at the local office of Khulshi. 70 candidates participated in the election against 35 director posts in Dhaka and Chittagong.

BGMEA Board of Directors elections are contested by two panels namely Combined Council and Forum. After counting the votes, it can be seen in the election results that the combined council has won the full panel in Dhaka and Chittagong. BGMEA Election Board Chairman Jahangir Alamin announced the results after counting after 12:00 PM on that day.

The panel leader of the joint council is SM Mannan Kochi, senior vice-president of the current committee of BGMEA. In this election, the combined council has won all the 35 directorships of Dhaka and Chittagong. On the other hand, the defeated panel forum was led by panel leader Faisal Samad.

BGMEA Election Management Board Chairman Jahangir Alamin said that this year’s BGMEA election was fair. There were no major complaints, but there were a couple of minor complaints. 2 thousand 226 voters exercised their right to vote in the election out of a total of 2 thousand 496 votes. Which is slightly more than 89 percent. Out of 2 thousand 32 voters in Dhaka, 1 thousand 839 people or about 90 percent (90.50 percent) voted. And in Chittagong, out of 464 votes, 387 voters voted, which is about 83.40 percent.

Nasir Uddin, Abrar Hossain Sayem, Shams Mahmud, Mohammad Sohail Sadat, Shobhan Islam, Anwar Hossain Manik, Saifuddin Siddiqui Sagar, Harun R. Rashid, Arshad Jamal Dipu, Asif Ashraf, Mejbah Uddin Khan, Rajib Chowdhury, M.
