The climate-neutral cities at the RAAEF conference

The recent developments in the field of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), Offshore Wind Parks and Climate Neutral cities of the country are the topics of the two Days of the Regulatory Authority of Waste, Energy and Water (RAAEF) that will be held in Thessaloniki on the 7th and 8th March 2024 in the context of the 2nd International Exhibition of the Circular Economy “Forward Green” organized by HELEXPO-TIF in Building 14 of the International Exhibition premises.

The organization of the RAEA Conferences at this Exhibition for the second consecutive year reflects the Authority’s commitment to a continuous and strong dialogue with the energy market, consumers and civil society, highlighting the new perspectives created by the energy transition.

The first Conference will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 10:30 am. In the first part entitled “Current developments to increase the penetration of renewable energy sources” will be presented by the Head of the Renewable Energy & Storage Division of RAAE, Ioannis Charalambidis and by the executives of the Division Angelos Handzigiannis, Matina Lambrakis, Dorothea Politis, Efthymia Anemodoura, Konstantinos Leventakos, the results of the Tenders for Storage units, the course of the licensing of RES projects, the new tool “electronic licensing register” which reduces bureaucracy, the conclusions from the monitoring of the implementation of RES projects and their letters of guarantee and overall will be presented statistical data on the path of RES penetration in the electric power generation system.

The second part entitled “Offshore Wind Farms” will present the framework for the development of offshore wind farms in Greece, the new regulatory framework, the current developments from the EDEFEP side, important spatial planning issues that are subject to discussion and finally the directions of the investors themselves so that to make the whole venture successful. The speakers will be the Minister of Environment and Energy, Thodoros Skylakakis, with a keynote address, the Head of Strategy and International Affairs Department and Head of the Electricity Infrastructure Department of ERAEF, Dr. Georgios Loizos, the Managing Director of EDEYEP, Aristophanes Stefatos, the Professor of the School of Civil Engineering of NTUA and Lawyer, Dimitrios Melissas and the President of ELETAEN, Panagiotis Ladakakos.

The second Conference will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 15:00 and concerns “planning and Climate According to the selected Municipalities of Greece and Cyprus in the context of the European Mission “100 Climate neutral and smart cities by 2030 from and to citizen”. The Authority chose to give a platform to the Mayors, whose cities were chosen to participate in the “100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030, from and to the citizen”. At the Conference, the President of RAAEF, Assoc. Prof. Athanasios Dagoumas, the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, Representative of the Central Macedonia Region, the General Secretary of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment, Efthimios Bakoyannis and the President of the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority, Dr. Andreas Pullikkas, the Vice President of the Energy Department of ERAEF, Dimitris Fourlaris, the member of the European Commission of the Climate Neutral Cities Mission, Chrysis Nicolaidis, and then the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis, the Mayor of Trikkaia, Nikos Sakkas, the Mayor of Kozani, Yannis Kokkaliaris, and the Mayor of Ioannito, Thomas Begas.
