China provides support for strengthening resilience for the economic emergence of the Androy region. HE Ji Ping, the Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar, visited the South to see first-hand the achievements within the framework of Sino-Malagasy cooperation.

SEM Ji Ping, 17e Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Madagascar having recently taken office, made a visit to the Androy region. During his trip, the Ambassador was able to visit the works and projects supported by China in this part of the country. His meeting with Soja Lahimaro Tsimandilatse, the governor of the Androy region, made it possible to review the cooperation projects between China and Madagascar in the South. The governor did not fail to express his gratitude to the Ambassador for the projects that have been accomplished in his region. This visit further strengthened relations between the two countries based on trust and mutual respect. It was also an opportunity to take stock of the different aspects of cooperation between the two countries. HE Ji Ping reaffirmed China’s desire to work in close collaboration with the Malagasy government and announced on the occasion his support for the continuation of structuring projects in the South.

Actions. China supports Madagascar in the fight against drought in the south of the Big Island. It results in the donation of seeds, fertilizers, fishing and agricultural equipment. It is an initiative that aims to get the South out of welfare and promote local economic resilience through projects affecting agriculture, fishing and others. On the medical level, Sino-Malagasy cooperation has continued to strengthen, particularly through the sending of Chinese medical teams to Madagascar. This, in addition to the many other supports from China in favor of the health sector in Madagascar. The Chinese doctors of this medical mission are on duty in several Malagasy hospital establishments in several localities in Madagascar, including Androy.
