A man and a woman were arrested on Saturday evening after driving a stolen car on the A4 and being spotted by police. The police started a multi-car chase, at the end of which the two fled. The chase eventually ended in the mud in a meadow in the village of Heerle near Roosendaal.
The car had been stolen in Roosendaal, the owner had reported it. The car was then registered as stolen. This is how the police discovered that the two were driving a car that was not theirs.
On Saturday evening, around nine o’clock, the police gave chase on the A4 towards Roosendaal. The pair entered a cul-de-sac in Heerle, rammed several fences and then tried to escape across a meadow.
The car they were traveling in got stuck in the mud, as did several police cars. The suspects eventually attempted to escape on foot, but police managed to arrest a 27-year-old Belgian woman near the car. A 37-year-old man from Roosendaal was caught minutes later.
The two are being held for further investigation. This should also show whether the two actually stole the car.
