The Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) reported that an investigation conducted by the agency has found that the coronavirus immunization record on former President Jair Messias Bolsonaro’s vaccination card is fake. The case was the subject of an operation by the Federal Police, which ascertained the participation of Army lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid in a fraud plan. The soldier was arrested in connection with the case in May last year.
The CGU reported that “according to the data contained in the system of the Ministry of Health, on the national vaccination card of the former president, there is a record against Covid-19 which would have occurred on 07/19/2021, in the Health Unit base (UBS) Parque Peruche, in Sao Paulo (SP)”.
Also according to the agency, two other vaccination registrations, which would have taken place in Duque de Caxias (RJ), would have been carried out by municipal agents, but canceled even before the investigations by the CGU began.” In relation to the registrations made in Rio de Janeiro, during the first investigations, the auditors ascertained the existence of a possible fraud scheme on vaccination cards, which involved the Municipal Secretariat.
The investigation showed that Bolsonaro was not even in Sao Paulo on the day of the alleged vaccination. The forgery of the vaccination card was intended to facilitate the entry of Bolsonaro and his family into the United States, a country that required the vaccination of foreigners who wanted to enter North American soil during the pandemic.
In the investigation carried out at the CGU, several people who worked at UBS Parque Peruche, in São Paulo, were interviewed. “The auditors also took testimony from the nurse listed on the vaccination card as administering the vaccine, but she denied having carried out this procedure. She also stated that she no longer worked at the Unit on that date, which was confirmed by documents”, informs a note released by the organization.
“The employees on duty at UBS on 07.19.2021 were also interviewed, but they all denied having seen the former President of the Republic there. Likewise, they denied knowing any request made to record the immunization of the then Chief of the Executive Branch Office,” the Comptroller concluded.
