Today, Monday, the Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch, chaired a meeting on the seventh general census of population and housing, which is scheduled to be organized at the end of the summer of this year, in implementation of the instructions of King Mohammed VI contained in the royal letter addressed to the Prime Minister dated June 20, a meeting that was attended by Abdel-Wafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, and Ahmed Al-Halimi Elmi, High Commissioner for Planning.
A press release, obtained by Hespress, stated that at the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister recalled the contents of the royal message that outlined the major milestones for the success of this important event, which were absorbed by the various stakeholders, explaining that they are mobilized to make this process a success in a way that responds and lives up to the aspirations of the King of the country.
Akhannouch added that the government will spare no effort in ensuring the means for the complete success of this great national entitlement within the specified deadlines, in accordance with royal instructions, highlighting the importance of the results of next year’s population and housing census in formulating appropriate public policies and adapting various programs in accordance with the aspirations of citizens.
In addition to emphasizing the importance of comprehensive mobilization of human and logistical resources, and in line with royal instructions, the Prime Minister called on all concerned public departments, institutions, and decentralized departments to engage seriously and closely coordinate in order to successfully organize the seventh general population and housing census, as it is an important mechanism for understanding demographic and socio-economic development. Accurate economic analysis of the Kingdom, and the preparation of appropriate policies at the national and local levels.
According to the same source, the meeting was an opportunity to study the various practical arrangements for organizing the general census of population and housing, where royal instructions were brought in, aiming to make the approach and technological means that will be mobilized in the general census process creative in terms of collecting and processing information, and ambitious in terms of expanding the areas of Research to include new topics such as the structured community project to universalize social protection, which receives royal attention.
The royal message addressed to the Prime Minister, last Thursday, indicated the valuable contribution that the results of next year’s census of population and housing will provide in “embodying our societal project and in achieving our development model based together on the principles of political democracy, economic efficiency, human development, and social and spatial cohesion.”
