Polish police have their eyes on a man named Vladimir W, who killed, dismembered, and scalped his father. Police believed that this subject murdered Katarzyna, but they later determined that this person was not related to Katarzyna’s murder.
After 19 years, the culprit was found
The case quickly fell into a deadlock because the police had no new leads and little evidence to continue the investigation. With nothing left to do, the police decided to close the case.
The murder is forgotten while life goes on. For the next 19 years, no one knew the killer’s identity.

In 2017, police unexpectedly received a letter from a friend of a man named Robert Janczewski. Police did not reveal the contents of the letter, although it did help them arrest Janczewski in the Kazimierz district in Krakow.
Janczewski, 52 years old, who worked at the Krakow Institute of Zoology, was accused of murdering female student Katarzyna. This man was trained in martial arts and had a history of harassing women. Before that, Janczewski worked in an anatomy laboratory, specializing in handling human corpses.
Janczewski was fired one day after killing all the rabbits at the Krakow Institute of Zoology during his shift. He cannot explain his actions.
Police searched Janczewski’s apartment and found blood in the bathroom. They then removed the bathtub and frame for forensic examination and searched the rest of the apartment for further evidence.
Perverted killer
In the official report on the case, investigators said: “The unfortunate 23-year-old female student was first beaten, then her neck, armpit, and groin were cut with a knife and died from loss of blood. The victim perhaps alive when skinned. Killer may have sexually abused Katarzyna after her death.”
The investigation agency also determined that the killer cut the skin with extreme precision.
According to Polish authorities, Janczewski was described as bisexual, liked to wear women’s clothes, often spied on neighbors and described the murder in his personal diary. This guy even regularly visits Katarzyna Zowada’s grave.
