The leadership of the BSP has announced that it is withdrawing political confidence from its municipal councilors in Sofia and that party punishments will be imposed on them.
It came to this, after a day ago, the work of the Metropolitan Municipal Council (SOC) was finally unblocked. On Thursday, a broad agreement was reached on the election of the candidate of “We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) and “Save Sofia” Tsvetomir Petrov. He will occupy the post temporarily, and “for” his election, despite the command of the party leadership not to give such support.
Now from “Positano” 20 say that they categorically distinguish themselves from the actions of their municipal councilors. The executive bureau of the party has met and decided to remove political confidence from them.
“They no longer represent BSP, but only themselves, and bear personal responsibility for their actions in SOS”says the Executive Office.
At the next meeting of the National Council, party punishments will be imposed on the councillors.
The leadership of the BSP recalls that the party has a decision from January 20, which states:
“The City Council of the BSP should nominate Diana Tonova’s candidacy for the chair of the Metropolitan Municipal Council. The municipal councilors from the “BSP for Bulgaria” should not support the established majorities in the Municipal Council and not vote for another candidate in the vote for the election of the chairperson of the SOS , except for the broadcast candidacy of Diana Tonova”.
On Thursday, BSP municipal councilors did not nominate Tonova once again and voted according to the broad agreement reached in the SOS for Petrov. He was supported by 47 people from the 61-member municipal council. For the other two candidates, the votes were 3 – for Emil Dimitrov from “Vazrazhdane” and 4 for Plamen Danailov from ITN. 5 ballots were invalid.
In addition to BSP, GERB and part of “Vazrazhdane”, support for Tsvetomir Petrov is also expected from “Sinya Sofia” and from the sole mayor from VMRO, Carlos Contrera.
All those who supported the election of Tsvetomir Petrov also received vice-president seats in the council. Boyko Dimitrov was elected deputy chairman from PP-DB and “Save Sofia”. Georgi Georgiev from GERB, Diana Tonova from BSP, Vili Lilkov from “Sinya Sofia” and Sevdelina Petrova from the separatists from “Vazrazhdane” also joined the leadership of the council. Already on Thursday evening, GERB, BSP and the small parties took over the Metropolitan Municipal Council, taking the leadership of almost all the committees.
A day ago, Vazrazhdane expelled four of its municipal councilors for supporting Tsvetomir Petrov, and the party group split.
Today, because of this support, three MPs were expelled from “Vazrazhdane”, who, according to the leader of the party, Kostadin Kostadinov, had proposed the offenders as candidates for municipal councilors.
The municipal councilors expelled from “Vazrazhdane” have already announced that they will form their own group in SOS.
