A woman suspected of killing a 7-year-old boy was arrested in Brazil, Liter.kz reports with reference to Independent.
The child died after he ate an Easter egg of chocolate.
The tragedy occurred in the city of Empresses, Maranian. Little Louis Fernando felt unwell after he ate a gift chocolate egg delivered on a motorcycle to their house.
“With love, Mirian Lira. Happy Easter,” the note to the package said.
The boy was urgently taken to the hospital, where he was intubated, but he could not be saved – he died a few hours later.
Other family members were injured: the mother of the child, Mirian Lira, and his 13-year-old sister are also hospitalized with signs of poisoning, their condition remains serious. According to relatives, shortly after the delivery of the gift, Mirian received a call from an unknown woman who asked if she received an egg.
“You will find out who it is,” the caller answered.
The police suspect that jealousy and revenge were the motive of the crime: the arrested is the 35-year-old former girl of the current partner Mirian. The woman was detained on a long-distance bus on the way to the hometown of Santa Ines. Two wigs, chocolate, medicines and bus tickets were found with her. The investigation assumes that she used wigs to disguise herself when buying sweets.
Samples of chocolate and the blood of the victims were sent for a forensic chemical examination to detect poisons.
