The Civil Police of Goiás found this Monday 8th a bone inside a suitcase, which could be that of the child Pedro Lucas Santos, aged 9. The child has been missing since November.

The investigators arrived at the remains after an anonymous tip, which indicated the Abóbora stream, near Rio Verde, as a clue. The boy’s stepfather was arrested shortly after police arrived at the remains, which were not complete.

According to experts, the bones may have been fragmented into multiple bags, or the animals may have fed on body parts. However, there is a suspicion that it belongs to a child or adolescent, since it is small; The forensic report will determine whether the body is that of Pedro Lucas, through a DNA test.

Authorities have been investigating the child’s disappearance since November 5, when his mother and stepfather went to the police station to register the case. However, when reporting the incident, the police learned that Pedro had not been seen for at least four days, which raised the team’s suspicions.

“In the incident, they report that the boy disappeared on the 1st, and they didn’t look for him before because the boy’s grandmother lives on the farm and they believed he would be there with her. When she returned on the 5th, they then realized that the boy wasn’t there and they started looking for him. This was the first version they presented”, said delegate Adelson Candeo, of Regional VIII, in a press conference this Tuesday 9th.

However, the version did not last. Speaking with the grandmother, the authorities discovered that she was not on the farm at the time.

Furthermore, he found messages on his cell phone from the boy’s stepfather asking for Pedro Lucas as early as November 1st. Another fact that strengthened the police’s warning was that the two described clothes different from those the boy was wearing on the day of his disappearance, according to images to which the police had access.

According to the delegate, the incident was registered only after a complaint to the Protection Council, lodged by a family friend.

“If it had not been for this act, perhaps even today there would have been no news of the disappearance of Pedro Lucas. Apparently, the family did not want the police to know about the boy’s disappearance,” explains the police chief.

Strange behavior and evidence

Candeo points out that the entire behavior of the mother and stepfather was not that of people who had a missing child. During the hearings, a friend of Pedro Lucas, a 10-year-old boy, reported that he had been beaten by both of them and that the man hated the boy.

“He also says, ‘His stepfather hated him. Pedro kept crying in the corner of his room. Pedro said that his stepfather was boring, ugly and that he never wanted to have him in his life. I know that his stepfather and his mother, they beat him with a belt, because I could see the marks on his back.’ He even says that he only wore thin T-shirts, and it was possible to feel the marks even by touch over the T-shirts,” the policeman emphasizes.

As the police proceeded to conclude the case, a luminol test was carried out at the family’s home. The deputy reported that there was a higher concentration of blood around the bed, and little on the floor and in the tub.

“It is very indicative that someone may have cleaned this blood and then washed the cloth in the tank. After carrying out this examination, the stepfather began to behave differently. He seemed more aggressive, saying that he was going to leave the state. This was involved in the investigation and was instrumental in the temporary arrest,” he reveals.

Timeline

Another fact that confirmed the suspect’s arrest is his timeline of the day Pedro Lucas disappeared. Police found a 45-minute window between leaving work and going to school to pick up the victim’s brother. The investigation believes that the boy was presumably killed at that time.

What caught the police’s attention was that this was the first time the man had picked up Pedro Lucas’ brother from school. In fact, the teacher did not know the man and she did not want to give him the child. “Why would the stepfather go to pick up the boy that day? How did he know that Pedro Lucas wouldn’t go?” asks the policeman.

Candeo stresses that he was not late nor did he receive a call to pick up the child. Considering these clues, the Civil Police requested his temporary arrest for qualified homicide against a minor under 14 years of age and concealment of a corpse.

OR Earth So far it has not been possible to identify the suspect’s defense, but the space remains open for demonstrations.
