The body of anti-Putin Alexei Navalny handed over to his mother

A spokesman for Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny said his body was handed over to his mother in the city of Salkhard on Saturday. He died nine days ago (on February 16) in jail.

According to Reuters, Navalny’s family and supporters have accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of his murder, but the Kremlin has denied the allegations.

An attempt was made to poison him in 2020, but he was spared. Alexei Navalny endured years of harsh treatment in prison, including long periods of solitary confinement.

Navalny’s team told X on Thursday that his death certificate said he died of natural causes.

In a video recorded before the body was handed over, Navalny’s widow, Yulia Navalnya, accused the ‘evil’ Putin of ‘desecrating’ the body of a political opponent.

Navalny’s allies urged supporters not to “sit back,” and his spokeswoman Kira Yarmish wrote on X that there was no certainty that Russian authorities would allow relatives to be buried “as qualified The house wants and as Alexey deserves.’

G7 leaders pledged their support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a statement marking two years since the war in Ukraine, urging Russia to fully disclose the circumstances of Navalny’s death and ‘ Release all unjustly detained prisoners.

G-Seven’s statement added: ‘We will hold those responsible for Navalny’s death accountable, including by imposing sanctions and other measures in response to human rights violations and abuses in Russia.’

In her six-minute video uploaded to YouTube, Navalnya said she would continue her fight against the Utan government. She accused the president of keeping her husband’s body in ‘possession’.

On Friday, Navalny’s mother, Lyudmila, said Russian investigators were refusing to release Salkhard’s mortuary body until she agreed to bury her son in the absence of the public.

According to him, an official told him that he should accede to their demands because Navalny’s body had already decomposed.

On Saturday, Navalny’s colleagues said authorities had threatened to bury him in the prison colony where he died if his family did not comply.

Since becoming Russia’s president in 2012, Putin has portrayed himself as a defender of traditional and conservative values.

He has also expressed his closeness to the Russian Orthodox Church, regularly attends religious festivals and has spoken about his personal faith.

Navalnya said her husband was a devout Christian who attended church and fasted even while in prison. He said that his political activity was inspired by Christian values.
