Fire service employees who arrived to fix a roof leak in one of the houses in Valencia, Spain, saw a terrible picture – in an apartment under the roof they found the mummified body of a man who died about 15 years ago, Liter.kz reports with reference to The mirror.
According to police, the victim, Antonio Famoso, died around 2010, when he was about 70 years old. His body lay in the sixth floor apartment all these years. The door of the room was locked from the inside, and the body was found in clothes, among pigeons, insects and garbage.
“He was a person who didn’t bother anyone. He always walked around alone, said hello, minded his own business. When we stopped seeing him, we thought he was in a nursing home,” Famoso’s neighbor told reporters.
Neighbors claim that after the divorce the man changed a lot and became withdrawn. Relatives did not report him missing, and acquaintances could not identify the body.
It is curious that his mailbox was not full: local residents said that they periodically take letters from other people’s mailboxes so that squatters do not identify empty apartments. At the same time, pension payments were received into Famoso’s account all these years, and utilities continued to be paid automatically.
One of the neighbors remembered that many years ago his guests complained about a strange smell, but then they did not attach any importance to it.
