The birth rate grows in Castilla y León with 4,291 births

Castilla y León added 4,291 births in the first quarter of 2024which they suppose 6.79 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023compared to the 1.24% national rebound, according to data published this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). Juan García-Gallardovice president of the region, has celebrated these data, recalling that his Executive has been fighting for some time to reverse bad figures: «We must make it easier for those who decide to start a family, with support and conciliation measures. And that’s where we are«.

In the first four months of the year 104,375 babies were born in Spainwith that 1.24 percent increase. In April, 25,036 children were born nationally, 50 more than in the same month of 2023, with a rebound of 0.2 percent.

In Castilla y León, 1,071 children were born in April, 76 more than in the same month of 2023, with an increase of 7.6 percent. 2.29 percent fewer births than in March. The 1,071 births in April are 2.29 percent less than the 1,096 that the community recorded in March.

That 6.79 percent increase in births between March and April in Castilla y León is the third largest in the autonomous region only behind 9.18 percent of Cantabria and 7.21 percent of the Balearic Islands.

Births grew in the first four months of the year in all the provinces of Castilla y León except in Soria, where Only 145 babies were born in that period, with a drop of 16.12 percent, the largest of the provincial group.

At the other extreme was the province of Segoviawith 14.40 percent more births than until April 2023, with 318 in total, one of the largest provincial increases after the 17.30 of Huesca and 15.56 Cuenca. In Burgos 710 births were registered until April, 9.65 percent more than in the first quarter of 2023.

Births also increased in the rest of the provinces: In Ávila, 288 children were born until April, 7.22 percent more; in León 744, a 9.69 percent increase; in Palencia 245, 5.28 more; in Salamanca 575, the 3.83 rebound; in Valladolid 1,020, 7.13 percent increase; and in Zamora 245, 4.95 percent more.
