President Petr Pavel remains the most trusted top politician in the Czech Republic, 54 percent of people trust him. They are followed by ANO chairman Andrej Babiš with 46 percent and SPD chairman Tomio Okamura with 40 percent. Pavel is the only politician who has a higher share of trust than distrust. On the contrary, the prime minister and ODS Petr Fiala and the head of the Chamber of Deputies and TOP 09 Markéta Adamová Pekarová received the highest distrust from the respondents. 79 percent of citizens do not trust Fiala and 73 percent do not trust Adamová Pekarová. It emerged from a survey by the Center for Public Opinion Research (CVVM), which conducted it from January to March.
However, the evaluation of most of the monitored politicians has improved compared to the survey from last summer, especially in the form of a lower share of distrust.
As for trust, it has slightly decreased in the case of President Pavel, Minister of Health Vlastimil Válek (TOP 09) and the Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL). For Pavle, it decreased by one percentage point, just like for Hladík, who is trusted by nine percent of people, and thus ended up at the bottom of the ranking of the trustworthiness of top politicians. Citizens’ trust in Válk fell by four points to 15 percent.
On the contrary, the share of those trusting Babiš and Okamura rose by four and five points, respectively. A similar increase in confidence was also experienced by Adamová Pekarová, which at the same time saw a decrease of four points in the number of people who do not trust her. A slight increase in the share of those who trust, accompanied by a comparable decrease in those who do not trust, the CVMM also recorded for the Minister for Regional Development and the chairman of the Pirates, Ivan Bartoš. With a confidence level of 28 percent, he ranked fourth in the current survey.
The President of the Senate, Miloš Vystrčil, concludes the list of the five most trustworthy (ODS), which, according to the findings of the CVVM, is believed by a quarter of those surveyed. Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský received slightly lower confidence, 24 percent (Pirates). Less than a fifth of people then agree that the Minister of Transport, Martin Kupka, is trustworthy (ODS), Minister of the Interior Víto Rakušana (STAN) and Prime Minister Fiala.
In addition to Hladík, the Minister for Legislation Michal Šalomoun also finished on the bottom rungs of the ranking (for Pirates), Minister for Science, Research and Innovation Helena Langšádlová (TOP 09), Minister of Education Mikuláš Bek (STAN) and Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvořák (STAN). Less than a tenth of the public trusts them. More than half of people said they were unaware of these policies.
A thousand people over the age of 15 took part in the survey between January 26 and March 11.
