Leopards, hyenas and crocodiles – fearsome predators in Africa – had a clash to compete for prey during a hunting trip…
Impressive natural moment recorded by tourists at Marloth Nature Reserve (South Africa), showing a hyena rushing into a herd of Impala antelopes grazing on grass to hunt. However, the speed of the antelopes caused the hyena’s hunt to fail.
Not long after that, a leopard also appeared and successfully hunted an antelope. At this time, the hyena realized that stealing the leopard’s prey would be easier than hunting itself, so it turned to attack the leopard.
When they saw the hyena coming towards them, the leopard had to actively retreat, avoiding a life-or-death battle, because leopards live and hunt alone, and if they are injured in battles for prey, they will die. makes leopards no longer able to hunt and difficult to survive in the wild.

The hyena did not have to work too hard to take the prey from the leopard, then pulled the prey away from the leopard and started killing the antelope to enjoy the meal. Meanwhile, the leopard stood helplessly watching its prey being taken away.
However, the sounds from the hunt attracted the attention of other scary predators, which were two crocodiles living in the nearby river. These two animals went ashore to find an opportunity to steal the hyena’s prey.
As soon as they saw the crocodile coming ashore, the leopard ran away in panic, while the hyena tried to drag its prey as far away from the crocodile as possible. The panicked reactions of the leopards and hyenas showed that they knew they did not stand any chance against the crocodile.
Despite trying very hard to protect the prey, the hyena finally let the crocodile steal the antelope’s body. At this time, the leopard approached the crocodile to try his luck at taking back the bait, but was immediately chased away by the hyena.
Until a second hyena appeared, the first hyena had enough confidence to move towards the crocodile to take back the bait. The crocodile itself just wants to protect the prey it has stolen, instead of fighting against the hyenas that are bothering it.
The recklessness of the two hyenas helped them tear pieces of meat from the antelope that was tightly held by the crocodile, but that was not enough to regain the entire prey.
Finally, the crocodile carried the antelope’s body back to the river to slowly enjoy it. At this point, certainly neither leopards nor hyenas have the courage to move towards the crocodile’s territory to reclaim their prey.
Maybe the ill-fated Impala could never have imagined that his life would end so tragically, when he was fought over by leopards, hyenas and crocodiles.

Impalas are highly social animals, living in herds of up to 100 individuals. They are migratory animals and often have to travel long distances in search of food and water. During migration, this animal can easily become prey for steppe predators.
