Striker Firas Al-Braikan, a Saudi player for Al-Ahly Jeddah, deprived Moroccan international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou of achieving a historic record in the Saudi Professional League, after he scored in the “El Clásico” match against Al-Hilal yesterday, Monday evening.
Al-Braikan scored a goal in the 30th minute of the match, after the ball fell from Bono following a powerful shot from Frenchman Alain Saint-Maximin, depriving the Moroccan goalkeeper of the opportunity to equal the record for clean sheets this season.
Bono was considered the goalkeeper who kept the most clean sheets this season in the Saudi League, with 15 matches, equal to his club legend Mohammed Al-Deaie, but Brazilian Marcelo Grohe, the former Jeddah Union goalkeeper, holds the historical record with 19 clean matches last season.
Therefore, Bono will not be able to break Grohe’s record even if he keeps a clean sheet in the remaining four matches, but he can only equal the achievement.
The Moroccan goalkeeper was hoping to break the historic record had it not been for Al-Braikan’s goal, which prevented him from doing so.
