Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler again assumes patronage
Vienna (OTS) – This year, the Austrian Environmental Journalism Prize is being awarded for the fifth time. The prize recognizes outstanding media contributions on environmental and nature conservation topics in traditional and digital media in Austria and is endowed with a total of 4,000 euros. This time, the prize money is being donated by lavera NATURKOMETIK. The prize will be awarded to journalistic contributions that contribute to expanding knowledge about environmental and nature conservation topics or to the critical discussion of these topics.
Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler will once again take over the patronage of the Environmental Journalism Prize in 2024. The prize is intended to bring the important issues of environmental, nature and climate protection even more into the spotlight and to promote and honor serious and transparent journalism.
An independent jury, consisting of top-class journalists and sustainability experts, selects one winning entry in each of the categories text, audio, TV/video and cross media. In addition to the journalistic quality of the entries, the jury also assesses whether new aspects of a topic have been highlighted.

The Austrian Environmental Journalism Prize was founded in 2017 by the Environmental initiative MOTHER EARTH (ORF) to raise awareness of environmental issues among the media, the public and companies and to promote high-quality and critical reporting on environmentally relevant topics.
In 2018, the prize was awarded to the GREEN BRANDS Organisation transmitted.
With the GREEN BRANDS Organisation (www.GREEN-BRANDS.org) a sponsor was found that is committed to environmental and climate protection at a strategic level and is predestined to implement the award due to its own activities.
GREEN BRANDS is an independent brand evaluation organization that developed its process in Austria in 2010 and now awards ecologically sustainable brands in eight countries and GREEN BRANDS seal of quality The GREEN BRAND seal of approval is a registered EU guarantee mark for ecological sustainability with an independent, transparent and neutral testing procedure.
Die GREEN BRANDS Organisation is fundamentally supported in organizing the prize by the cooppa media cooperative (Dr. Martin Hoffmann – www.cooppa.at), the APA and for the prize money by lavera NATURKOSMETIK (lavera.de) as well as the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK).

Journalistic works that were published or broadcast in an Austrian public medium (print, radio, television) or on the Internet (blogs, YouTube, website) between September 2022 and August 31, 2024 can be submitted.
The awards ceremony will take place on December 3, 2024 as part of the GREEN BRANDS Austria Closing gala in Vienna.
Until 31 August 2024 Contributions can be submitted using the form at . The submission must contain precise information about the first publication (source and publication date). Only complete submissions will be processed. Radio and TV contributions with larger amounts of data can be submitted via a link.
