The assassinated prime minister warned: there will be new attacks – 2024-08-19 06:01:43

New attacks against members of the ruling coalition in Slovakia are possible.

Publika.az reports that this was said by the Prime Minister of the Republic, Robert Fitso.

His words came against the backdrop of a series of protests by the opposition, which began with the recent controversial decisions of Culture Minister Martina Simkovichova, who dismissed the heads of the country’s largest cultural institutions. After the next rally, the prime minister of Slovakia made a harsh statement.

“Thank you, Mrs. Šimečko and Grüling (leaders of the Progressive Slovakia and Freedom and Solidarity opposition parties Michal Šimečka and Bronislav Grüling – ed.). You are a political novice who has allowed yourself to be drawn into the dangerous escalation of tensions in Slovakia by the media and NGOs. As a result, there will be a new attempt on the life of the representative of the ruling coalition. If this happens because of your fault, I will not control the emotions of our supporters,” Fitso said, recalling the attempt on his life in May this year.

It should be noted that the recent protests in Slovakia were caused by the actions of Martina Shimkovicova, who removed the heads of the Slovak National Theater and the Slovak National Gallery from their positions. These steps have led to a wave of criticism from cultural figures in both Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The protests also affected the actions of Justice Minister Boris Susk, who ordered the release of Dusan Kovacik, the convicted former head of the prosecutor’s office’s elite unit. Despite public displeasure, Fitso supported both Susk and Shimkovichova. At the same time, he stressed that he did not see any reason for their resignation.
