The April Fair of Seville has counted in this edition 3,146,698 people in Real de Los Remediosone million more visitors than in 2023, data that has allowed the mayor of the city, José Luis Sanz, to affirm that 2024 has been the Fair “most multitudinous in history.”
From next Tuesday, April 23, at 9:00 a.m., and until Thursday, April 25, at 8:00 p.m., Sevillians will be able to vote on which model they want for the next Fair 2025: from Fishing and Lighting Monday to end Sunday with the fires; or the current model, which begins on a Saturday with the Lighting and ends the following Saturday with the fires.
In relation to this referendum, Mayor José Luis Sanz has assured that changing the Fair model “I do not believe” will impact the economic impact of this event, which, together with Holy Week, represents around 6,000 million euros. «The Fair is an economical motorcycle that must be taken care of»he remarked.
The cameras installed in the Real de la Feria and the use of aerial means such as drones have allowed a total of 3,146,698 people to be counted during the April 2024 Fair. According to data from the Consistory, in 2023, there were 2,075,736 people, which represents 1,070,962 more people (+51.6%).
In the total of the entire Fair, from Lighting Saturday to Fire Saturday, Tussam has transported 1,304,012 travelers to the fairgrounds, 11.5% more than in 2023. This figure constitutes the “historical” record for Tussam at the Fair, exceeding the previous record from 2017 (1,277,215 travelers) by more than 2%.
The Special Plan for the Lipasam April Fair has been developed “completely normally”, breaking the historical record for waste collection by reaching 1,914,660 kilos, an amount that is 7.6% more than in 2023 (data from on Saturday, April 13). Nevertheless, Waste collection work will continue for several days to later begin removing waste from the dismantling of booths, the City Council has clarified in a note.
With respect to horsemen and carriages, 149 inspections have been carried out during the Fair; 2,934 breathalyzer tests have been carried out, of which 42 have been positive; 137 VTCs have been inspected, with 32 complaints filed for “various non-compliance”; 2,422 vehicles have been inspected, removing a total of 1,629 kilos of food; and 202 proceedings have been carried out, of which 102 were for traffic accidents, 52 for criminal offenses without arrests and 22 for criminal offenses with arrests. 26 arrests have been made.
Last Saturday, 320 incidents were handled (21% less than Friday), broken down into 222 City events (-16%), 28 Fair events (-43%) and 60 queries for background information and other information of interest ( -22%). Fair Tuesday, prior to the local holiday Wednesday, was the day in which the most incidents were managed from the Local Police Control Center, with a total of 607 incidents.
