In the eastern regions, the air temperature has risen to +20..+23 degrees, in the central part of the country it fluctuates around +20 degrees, but cooler air flows in from the west. In most parts of Kurzeme, the air temperature has dropped to +10..+12 degrees, in places on the coast it is only +7 degrees.
The previous highest air temperature recorded in the country on April 10 was +19.1 degrees in 2017 in Meersrag and Riga.
A cold atmospheric front crosses Latvia from the west – colder air flows in with the west wind, but no precipitation is expected.
Forecasters predict that the wind will sometimes increase in gusts to 10-15 meters per second, in the afternoon and evening, gusts up to 18 meters per second are expected in Kurzeme.
In the east of Latvia, the air temperature can reach +25 degrees on Wednesday, on the west coast of Kurzeme it is expected to be slightly below +10 degrees.
Before the arrival of the cold front at night and in the early morning, the heat record was also broken in Pāvilost, Liepaja and Rucava. The highest air temperature was +17.6 degrees in Rucava, where it later became ten degrees colder.
It has already been reported that on Tuesday the thermometer in Daugavpils rose up to +26.2 degrees, surpassing the national heat record of the first decade of April by three degrees and breaking the year’s previous record of +26 degrees by 12 days.
