Linz (OTS) – In its constituent meeting on Tuesday, May 7th, the AK general assembly elected not only the president but also the four vice-presidents, the board and the control committee.
The Presidium The Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor consists of the president and four vice-presidents. According to the results of the AK election at the end of March, these were all nominated by the Social Democratic Trade Unionists (FSG) faction: Harald Dietinger and Christine Heitzinger were already members of the executive committee, Manfred Hippold, chairman of the workers’ works council at voestalpine Stahl GmbH, and Sandra Jurekovic, chairwoman of the workers’ works council at Takeda Austria GmbH, was up for election for the first time. The election proposal was accepted by 83.64 percent of the chamber councilors.
After the AK elections, the seats in the 15-member council were also redistributed board the AK: In addition to the president and the four vice-presidents, depending on the strength of the factions, there are still seven FSG members, two members of the Freedom Workers/Freedom Party of Austria (FA-FPÖ) and one member of the Austrian Workers’ Association/Christian Faction Trade unionists (ÖAAB-FCG). Albert Brunner, Lukas Fliesser, Wolfgang Gerstmayer, Beatrix Pröll, Sandra Saminger, Michael Seemayer and Reinhard Streinz (FSG), Gerhard Knoll and Rudolf Kroiß (FA-FPÖ) and Cornelia Pöttinger (ÖAAB-FCG) were elected.
The last one was Control Committee elected, which consists of 15 members in accordance with the AK law. Each faction represented in the general assembly (FSG, FA-FPÖ, ÖAAB-FCG, Alternative, Greens and Independent Trade Unionists – AUGE/UG) initially receives one seat, the remaining eleven seats are distributed according to the result of the AK election. In total, the control committee consists of ten FSG members, two FA-FPÖ members, two ÖAAB-FCG members and a representative of AUGE/UG. Those proposed for election are Nina Abraham, Sabine Eiblmaier, Gerald Engleitner, Anton Gufler, Wolfgang Hirscher, Erich Kaiser, Mario Mayrwöger, Friedrich Rader, Gerhard Siegl, Ernst Zimmermann (FSG), Dietmar Hochrainer, Peter Stumptner (FA-FPÖ), Stefan Mayr , Bernhard Steiner (ÖAAB-FCG) and Brigitte Huber-Reiter (AUGE/UG) were elected. According to the AK law, the lists PFG – Your Non-Party Interest Representation and the Trade Union Left Block (GLB) represented in the general assembly are not entitled to a seat in the control committee because they did not achieve party strength in the AK election.
