Abdus Salam Dardi is a resident of Barivadera area of Madan Municipality. He is working as the Acting Head Teacher of Dharmaraya Ramdhan Government Primary School, Sukhari Union, Atpara Upazila, Netrakona. He is the son of Lat Mia of Nurpur Boali village of Khaliajuri upazila.
According to local sources, a program was organized in his village Nurpur Bowali on the occasion of the 139th birthday of the country’s famous Baul saint and mysterious poet Ukil Munsi. Baul artistes from different parts of the country performed the song of Ukil Munsi throughout the night.
In the video obtained by Jago News, acting headmaster Abdus Salam Dardi was seen drinking alcohol sitting on a chair on the side of the stage of the event. It is alleged that he often drinks alcohol.
Being a teacher (government employee) and consuming drugs in public is drawing criticism in the area.
Many people participating in the event on condition of anonymity said, ‘Salam Dardi is a teacher. He works in government. But he drank while sitting on the stage. He also drank alcohol. What to teach students if a teacher is addicted to drugs and drinks alcohol openly. They demanded the authorities to take appropriate measures in this regard.
When asked to know, teacher Abdus Salam Dardi said that a gang is having sex with me. A relative of mine resolved this issue (drinking) with the journalists so as not to create any problem. Even then, the matter is being talked about again and again. He requested to look at the incident in a positive light.
In this regard, Netrakona District Primary Education Officer Mizanur Rahman Khan said, according to the government job policy, no one can drink alcohol. It is even sadder if the teacher drinks alcohol. I just found out that one of my elementary school teachers drank alcohol in public. Action will be taken after investigation in this regard.
