The Aba Wrestling Türkiye Championship held in Yayladağı has ended

Enes Bandırma became the chief wrestler in the Aba Wrestling Turkey Championship held in the Yayladağı district of Hatay within the scope of the traditional Yayladağı Culture and Art Festival.

900 athletes from 21 provinces participated in the championship organized by Yayladağı Municipality, Yayladağı District Governorship and Turkish Traditional Wrestling Federation (TGGF) at Devrent Social Facilities.

Competitions were held in 18 weight classes in the organization, where wrestling leader was Cihat Yaycı.

Enes Bandırma, who defeated his opponent Ufuk Yılmaz in the heavyweight final, received the title of chief wrestler.

Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı thanked those who contributed to the organization of the championship and congratulated the athletes who won awards.

Yayladağı Mayor Mehmet Yalçın said that the festival, which started with various events yesterday, ended with the Aba Wrestling Türkiye Championship.

Yalçın, who explained that they continued traditional activities for people to recover after the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, made the following assessment:

“This year our festival was held with greater participation. A total of 900 athletes from 21 provinces including Istanbul, Ankara, Trabzon, Adıyaman, Hakkari, Erzincan, Tokat, Çorum, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay wrestled on the field. Yayladağı is like the center of wrestling. Hopefully, we will organize better ones in the coming years.”
