The 8th extraordinary session of the National Assembly considers personnel work.

Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong has just issued a document on the expected agenda of the 8th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly.

Accordingly, the National Assembly Standing Committee decided to convene the 8th extraordinary session to consider personnel matters under the authority of the National Assembly.

The session takes place over one day, starting at 8:00 a.m. on August 26 at the National Assembly House (Hanoi).

The Law on Organization of the National Assembly stipulates that the National Assembly holds regular meetings twice a year. In case the President, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister or at least one-third of the total number of deputies request, the National Assembly will hold extraordinary meetings.

Since the beginning of the 15th tenure, the National Assembly has held 7 extraordinary sessions. The number of extraordinary sessions equaling the number of normal sessions is unprecedented in the history of the National Assembly.

This extraordinary session was held after recently (afternoon of August 3), the Central Party Office announced that Mr. Le Minh Khai (Secretary of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, former Inspector General of the Government), Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh (Member of the Central Party Committee, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, former Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ha Giang Province), Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky (Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Council), and Mr. Chau Van Lam (Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Tuyen Quang Province) violated Party regulations in performing assigned duties and tasks, violated regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do, the responsibility to set an example, and regulations on preventing and combating corruption and negativity.
