The 12 German climbers who had gone for a hike from the artificial lake of Aoos to Vovousa and did not reach the predetermined point, where a guide was waiting for them to return to their accommodation, were found in good health late yesterday afternoon, as a result of which an alarm was raised to the Authorities. When they did not appear on time, the driver informed the Fire Department and immediately began a large operation to locate and rescue them. 3 Fire Department vehicles with 9 firefighters rushed to the scene as well as a 5th EMAK vehicle with 3 people. Finally, however, a short time later, the 12 German climbers were found alive and boarded the bus that was waiting for them. Thus ended the alarm caused earlier by the delay of the 12 German climbers in approaching the meeting point. It is estimated that the weather conditions – low cloud cover – prevailing in the area meant that it took longer than estimated to complete the route.
