Sven-Goran Eriksson, the former head coach of the English national team, announced that he was diagnosed with cancer.
Publika.az reports that according to the Swedish expert speaking to “Sky Sports”, he has at best one year left to live.
“Everyone understands that I have a bad disease. Everyone assumed it was cancer. Yes, it is. But I have to fight as hard as I can. At best I have a year, at worst less. I don’t feel any serious pain. But I have been diagnosed with a disease that can be slowed but not cured.
It is better not to think about it, because you will have to trick your brain. I could think about it all the time and sit at home and feel sorry for myself. The easiest way is to do it this way. But it’s wiser to try to find the positive and not get caught up in failure.”
It should be noted that the 75-year-old Swedish specialist coached the English national team in 2001-2006. He also managed “Benfica”, “Roma”, “Sampdoria” and “Lazio”. Eriksson led Benfica to three championships and won the Coppa Italia with Roma.
