After causing the accident, Phi did not stop to save the two motorcyclists but continued to drive the passenger car away, being chased by the police.
On March 14, the Hue City Police Investigation Agency (Thua Thien-Hue) announced that they had temporarily detained Vu Dinh Phi (34 years old, residing in Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province) for driving a car. The passenger car caused a traffic accident and left the scene, resulting in two deaths.
Before that, at about 10:30 p.m. on March 10, Mr. Le Van G. (21 years old) was riding a motorbike with license plate 75AF-124.89 to transport Mr. Le Van D. (21 years old, residing in Long Ho Thuong 2, Huong Ho ward, Hue city). North-South direction on National Highway 1A, Hue bypass.
When arriving at Km9+500 in Huong Ho Ward, Hue City, Mr. G.’s car collided with a passenger car traveling in the opposite direction. After the accident, the bus driver fled the scene, Mr. G. and Mr. D. were taken to the emergency room.
However, due to serious injuries, Mr. G. died on the way to the emergency room, Mr. D. died after being taken to the hospital.
Receiving information, the functional forces of Hue City Police quickly arrived at the scene, coordinating with functional units to organize an investigation and search for the passenger car driver who caused the accident.
At 10:40 a.m. on March 11, Hue City Police coordinated with relevant units to clarify that the driver who caused the accident was Vu Dinh Phi (34 years old, residing in Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province). The car causing the accident was discovered at a garage in Yen Thanh district.
At the police station, Phi admitted that at that time, this driver tried to overtake a container truck going in the same direction in front of him and when he drove to the left side of the road, it caused an accident.
Currently, the Hue City Police Investigation Agency continues to investigate and consolidate records for handling according to regulations.
