Tempi: In the Parliament a new case file against Karamanlis – Papadopoulos for breach of duty

A new case file on the Tempe railway tragedy was forwarded to the Parliament following a related lawsuit by victims’ relatives that also refers to political figures.

The case file concerns the former Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Konstantinos Ah. Karamanlis and the former Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Michalis Papadopoulos, for dereliction of duty.

It is recalled that in order to move the process further, at least 30 members of parliament need to submit a proposal for the establishment of a preliminary investigation.

Complementary sampling, DNA identification clarifications

Furthermore, Panhellenic is anxiously watching the revelations in view of the much-discussed trial with the relatives of the victims filing a new memorandum.

They are asking, on the one hand, for additional sampling to be done on the wreckage of the carriages of the fatal passenger train in Tempi, and on the other hand, clarifications on the identification of the DNA of the victims. The memorandum was submitted at noon on Thursday, June 6, to the special appellate investigator.

In the relevant memorandum submitted by X. Konstantinidis, they request, among other things, additional sampling of the wreckage of the passenger train carriages kept at Koulouri Larissa by a specialist metallurgist, who will examine the relevant materials to establish the causes that led to the explosion and the fire. In addition, they request clarification on the exact number of victims of the tragedy and the DNA samples collected and their identification.
