Teachers mobilize claiming training, items and less work overload

The Organization of Education Workers of Paraguay-National Union (OTEP-SN) will mobilize its teachers next Friday with a series of claims, among which the request for the postponement of the Inclusive Education Law is highlighted due to lack of preparation of educators.

Noelia Caballero, teacher of the OTEP-SN, explained that they claim to the Ministry of Education to reevalue said law because, despite the positive purpose of the regulations, teachers are not prepared to give a differentiated class to children with disabilities.

“Resolution 376 that speaks inclusion in educational institutions, is necessary to stop. It is beautiful and broad, but is not consistent with our reality. With everything we must face day by day in the classrooms, we cannot fulfill the function of the specialists,” he told the press media.

He indicated that it is the MEC inclusive education centers that should give each child’s diagnoses, and that the teacher takes care of the pedagogical part.

On the other hand, Caballero mentioned as another point of claim the creation of new teaching areas. The march will begin at 7:00, from the Pantheon of the Heroes to the MEC.
