It must be added that in the world the teachers’ day is celebrated on a different date, namely on October 5. Here and in Slovakia, Teachers’ Day is celebrated today, March 28, because it is the birthday of Jan Ámos Comenius.
In the Czech Republic, according to data from the Ministry of Education, more than 157,000 teachers are employed full-time in regional education.
Prime Minister’s congratulations
The head of the government cabinet Petr Fiala (ODS) knows the academic and pedagogical world from his own life. And so, on Thursday, he was probably one of the first to remember the teacher with his post on the X network: “Teachers’ Day is celebrated today on the occasion of the anniversary of Jan Amos Komensky’s birth. I would like to say to all the teachers that I really appreciate their work because I know very well what it entails. It is extremely important to what our future will be. I wish you all the best and may you enjoy and enjoy your work!” he wrote.
The president awarded the best teachers
There is no message for teachers on the profile of President Petr Pavel on Thursday, but just a few days before this holiday, he expressed himself on the occasion of the presentation of the traditional awards for teachers called Zlatý Ámos.
“A teacher can sometimes shape a student more than his own parents. We therefore need teachers who are educated, friendly, inspiring and empathetic. Such are the finalists of the Zlatý Ámos poll, whom I met today at Prague Castle. I appreciated their contribution to the education of children and talked to them about the joys and problems of education.”
The Minister of the Interior also has a holiday
Vít Rakušan (STAN) was a cantor before his political career. It follows from his post that he does not forget his colleagues even now, even if he is currently engaged in another field.
“Today is my holiday. I’m not Sonia, but I’m a teacher! Currently a reserve teacher, but just as the blackboard is never completely clean, you will never get the teaching out of yourself. And I don’t even want to. I don’t even get upset when someone calls me a teacher at a debate and thinks it’s an insult. Exactly opposite. I myself respect everyone who practices this profession. I therefore wish all teachers (of which there are, by the way, an average of four in schools for one teacher) a happy Teachers’ Day!” he wrote on his X profile.
Even the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Markéta Pekarová Adamová (TOP 09), did not forget to give a toast to the teachers. “Dear teachers, teaching assistants, I wish you all the best for your holiday today! The work you do is crucial to the future of the country. Thank you for the patience, empathy and understanding with which you approach not only pupils and students, but also parents. I really appreciate it.”
The minister gave a toast
Mikuláš Bek (STAN), in the position of Minister of Education, congratulated on Teacher’s Day with a short video.
