Taxi drivers block streets of Bogotá again

The streets of Bogotá have once again been convulsed by protests by taxi drivers, who for the second consecutive day block Avenida El Dorado, the main access route to the El Dorado International Airport.

The demonstrations, which began yesterday afternoon, have generated vehicular chaos, flight delays and clashes with transport app motorcyclists.

Taxi drivers demand stronger measures from the authorities against digital transport platforms such as Uber and DiDi, which they consider unfair competition. They argue that these platforms operate outside the law and do not pay the same taxes as traditional taxis, which significantly affects their income.

Chaotic mobility and affected flights

The blockades have generated great traffic congestion in the area, affecting thousands of travelers heading to the airport or returning to the city. Many passengers have had to walk long distances with their luggage to reach their destinations.
