Taiwan on alert over Chinese warships and planes incursion

They enter their air defense zone

He Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan (MND) has reported significant Chinese military activity in the vicinity of its territory.

In the last few hours, 15 Chinese military aircraft and nine warships have been detected operating near the island.

Of the 15 aircraft of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)14 crossed the dividing line and entered the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) of the north and southwest of Taiwan.

In response to these incursions, Taiwan’s military has monitored the situation and taken appropriate measures to ensure territorial integrity. In a post on X, the Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense stated: “As of 6am (UTC+8) today, 15 PLA aircraft and 9 PLAN vessels were detected operating around Taiwan. 14 of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s northern and southwestern ADIZ. #ROCArmedForces have been monitoring the situation and responding accordingly.”

Taiwan’s MND has recorded an increase in Chinese military activity so far in July, detecting 160 military aircraft and 52 naval vessels.

Since September 2020, China has stepped up its use of grey zone tactics, increasing the number of aircraft and ships operating around Taiwan.
