T3 Foundation and Şahinbey Municipality Observation Festival Started

The observation festival organized by the Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) and Şahinbey Municipality has begun.

T3 Foundation Board of Directors Chairwoman Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır expressed her pleasure to be in the city in her speech at the opening ceremony of the “Science Turkey Yamaçtepe Sky Observation Festival” held at the Yamaçtepe Science Camp Area.

Hıdır stated that as the T3 Foundation, they believe that Turkey needs to have an independent technology and science in order to reach a fully independent and prosperous future, and said, “We see that the National Technology Initiative studies put forward for this purpose bring success in every field from the defense industry to automotive, from software to space.”

Hıdır, who stated that they provided training to young people, made the following assessment:

“Within this scope, we have implemented the Science Turkey project with the aim of creating a curious, questioning and productive generation and we are bringing our youth together with trainings in 7 different themes such as astronomy, aviation, space, mathematics, technology and natural sciences. Within the scope of Science Turkey, which has reached a total of 20 science centers, one of which is in Şahinbey, and 3 countries, more than 1 million of our students have received training since 2018. We believe that these young people will not only have a consuming spirit but also a producing spirit and a desire to discover and constantly learn.”

Şahinbey Mayor Mehmet Tahmazoğlu also said that they are working to contribute to the development of young people in technology, art and sports.

Şırnak Deneyap Workshop student Nurşin Nürgen stated that she was excited to learn how to use a telescope for the first time and said, “I am also excited to see the stars and planets.”

During the 3-day observation festival, “night telescope observation of celestial bodies”, “meteor shower observation”, “daytime telescope observation of the sun”, “science workshops” and “astronomy talks” will be held.
