The T-MEC Corridor project continues and will not be affected by the declaration of the federal government as a Protected Natural Area in Playa El Verde Camacho de Sinaloa, since the port is contemplated in La Marina de Mazatlán, where an expansion would be carried out and would reduce the investment to a tenth.

Arturo Ortiz Galán, Undersecretary of Economic Development in La Laguna de Durango, recalled that the Caxxor group started the project but did not have capital, so the state government decided to withdraw the lands that the previous administration had given them and the project was resumed. directly with the federal government.

He pointed out that the railroad concession already exists and there are two very large private investors, Ferromex and Kansas City Southern, who are seeking to keep it.

“The port is going to be expanded where La Marina de Mazatlán is, Rear Admiral Mariel Aquileo Ancona Infanzón, general director of the Administration of the National Port System of Mazatlán, received us on Friday and confirmed that the project will not be necessary kilometers outside of Mazatlán, but an expansion is contemplated, but today it is not necessary because they are at less than 30% of their capacity, so, in case it is required in the future, right there with a tenth of the investment, It can be done,” he explained.

The official said that the state government is synchronizing the efforts of the private parties, which are the railways, managed the railway concession, which has already been given, and currently what is being reviewed is the infrastructure in the port, to see if it is enough for what comes.

“They told us that they already have a contract with all Chinese armor, so the vehicles being imported are still at less than 30 percent of their capacity, that is, the port still has more maneuver to receive greater volume,” he commented. .

Ortiz Galán said that the investment contemplated in the Caxxor project was “faraonic” but there was no money to fund it, so the state took over the project and made some modifications that could avoid this waste of resources, such as the location of the port and on the railroad tracks, because about 340 kilometers had been contemplated but since it was direct from the port of Mazatlán to Durango it would be less than 280 kilometers.

The undersecretary said that this project is for four years and highlighted that the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, already has, within her National Development Plan, this railway project, so Governor Esteban Villegas is already in contact with her and with your team so that it starts as soon as possible.

“It is something that we will have to inaugurate in three to four years,” he said.

In this sense, Ortiz Galán clarified that the declaration of a national protected area does not affect them in any way because that project had already been discarded before, as it was unviable in terms of budget.
