This is Russia’s 4th generation tank line with many new technologies that are superior to existing American and Western tanks. The design of the new tank was carried out by the Ural Transport Design Complex in Nizhny Tagil and later Uralvagonzavod.
The special identifying point of the T-95 tank prototype is its large 152mm main gun, which is superior to American and NATO tanks. In addition, the digital fire control system and the survivability of the combat crew are also considered ahead of their time. The T-95 also uses an automatic ammunition loading system with a capacity of 40 rounds.
In addition, the T-95’s turret is also fully automated with crew members sitting low under the vehicle’s body to limit the possibility of casualties when the vehicle is hit. The vehicle is equipped with an advanced thermal imaging sight system for both the vehicle commander and gunner.
The T-95 prototype uses a powerful turbocharged diesel engine with a capacity of 1,500 horsepower, significantly more powerful than the standard engine on the T-90 tank. The Russian tank is expected to have a maximum speed of 70km/h and a range of about 500km.

The T-95 also significantly upgrades protection capabilities with the Relict explosive reactive armor system combined with the Arena-M active defense system.
By 2009, the Project 195 tank along with many other future Russian weapons projects were eliminated due to restructuring of defense funding. However, many of the experimental technologies on the Black Eagle tank have been realized on the real 4th generation tank, the Russian T-14 Armata, which first appeared in 2015.
