Sziget announces more headliners. Who will perform with Imagine Dragons and Billie Eilish?

Sziget will welcome music lovers from August 10 to 15 at Freedom Island in Budapest, Hungary.

It’s more than a music festival – with a rich program that includes performances by the best names in pop, rock, electronica and R&B, it’s the perfect experiential adventure where no two days are the same. The festival’s more than 50 stages host a range of impressive artistic performances, cabarets, comedy, social justice discussions and panels representing cultures from around the world.

Sziget 2023 brings new headliners, including the British folk rock band Mumford & Sons, which completes the program with a stormy sound-dense show and cult hits such as I Will Wait and Little Lion Man. Lorde returns to the stage again this year and continues the tour for her latest album Solar Power, and as part of it she is going to dominate the main stage of Sziget. Fresh off the release of his new album Ben, Seattle star and Grammy winner Macklemore is also set to tour, and his show at Sziget will be one of the highlights of his European tour.

Other interesting news on the program will be Loyle Carner, Caroline Polachek, Bonobo, Tale Of Us, girl in red, Yung Lean, Arlo Parks, Confidence Man, The Aces, Lucie Antunes, Coloray, SG Lewis, Sleaford Mods, Ben Böhmer (live), Son Mieux, Giant Rooks, I Hate Models, 999999999, Herrensauna XXL, Shlømo and TxC.

The star-studded line-up will also be joined by London rapper Loyle Carner, who will perform with his critically acclaimed new album Hugo, due out in 2022. In addition, American singer Caroline Polachek will be performing with her great new record Desire, I Want to Turn into You, or the Swedish rapper Yung Lean, who is considered one of the most influential figures of the early cloud rap era. In addition to them, the constant of the electronic scene, producer Bonobo, returns to Sziget. The emerging star of the techno scene, on the other hand, is Tale Of Us, which is preceded by a reputation for intense sets and the best parties. Another acclaimed duo set to rock the stage are post-punk Sleaford Mods.

Main organizer Tamás Kádár Szigetu: “The headliner list is complete and day tickets are now available. In addition to previously announced headliners Billie Eilish, David Guetta, Florence + the Machine and Imagine Dragons, Mumford & Sons, Lorde and Macklemore have recently joined the line-up and on various more than 30 other international performers are announced on the stages.”

In addition to the first-class music program, Tamás Kádár highlighted three important novelties of this year’s festival. “The Art of Freedom installation will return to Sziget 2023, which aims to give visual power to the diverse world of the Island of Freedom through expressive, thought-provoking and stunning artworks and spatial installations. The sanitary blocks will be completely renewed, almost all mobile toilets will disappear from the festival, replaced by containers with flush toilets. Last year due to the unusual drought there were dust problems, this year we are taking action on several fronts to ensure that does not happen again. Firstly, at the end of last year we ‘greened’ our island, removing deficiencies in the grass soil caused by drying out. We are working to ensure that such an event does not happen again and in case of drought we can provide continuous irrigation with water from the Danube. In addition, we are using a new anti-dust treatment throughout the festival area, the essence of which is that it uses the humidity of the air to create a slightly moistened layer on the ground – thereby preventing the penetration of dust into the air”.

Sziget will return in 2023 between 10 and 15 August 2023. Six-day tickets are on sale now, priced from €325. For more details about the Sziget Festival, visit szigetfestival.com
