On June 22, 2024, Myeloma and Lymphoma Aid Austria celebrates 20 years
Vienna (OTS) – Quality of life despite illness: The Myeloma and Lymphoma Aid Austria looks back on 20 years of self-help and is celebrating its anniversary with a symposium on June 22, 2024. Leading experts in oncology and hematology will present new findings from hemato-oncology and invite you to an open exchange in a relaxed atmosphere. Participation is free. Registration at: anmeldung@myelom-lymphom.at
Multiple myeloma is one of the most common tumors of bones and bone marrow, as are cancers of the lymph glands, so-called malignant lymphomas. On Saturday, June 22, 2024, experts will speak in the Van Swieten Hall of the MedUni Vienna about current diagnostics and therapies for myeloma and lymphomas. But quality of life topics are also part of the program. The symposium is aimed at those affected, their relatives and the professional world and provides information on how to best combat the side effects of therapies and maintain quality of life.
Self-help group focuses on quality of life despite illness
The initiator of the symposium, Elfi Jirsa, president of the Myeloma and Lymphoma Aid Austria team, has been a founding member and tirelessly committed to patients for 20 years. She has been living with the diagnosis of MGUS since 1989 and has been passing on her experiences to those affected ever since. Together with her energetic team, Elfi Jirsa provides valuable support to the community. Despite her illness, Elfi Jirsa has maintained her positive attitude: “I also want to help other patients to live confidently and contentedly with their illness. With our self-help group, we provide those affected with up-to-date information, encourage them to have an open culture of conversation with the medical profession and achieve a quality of life despite the illness.”
