The Moroccan Coordination Committee called on parents of male and female swimmers to take into account the exam dates for male and female students before scheduling any swimming competition, especially those that coincide with the dates of passing the baccalaureate exams.
It was stated in a communication to the coordination that “It is not reasonable to schedule the Throne Day competition (to mention but not limited to) on June 2, one week before the date of the second year baccalaureate exams, which will be held on June 10, and less than a week before the date of the first year baccalaureate exam, which will be held on June 5.” And June 6.”
The report added, “These dates put parents before the question about where will the focus of the student swimmers be? Should I prepare for a competition dear to the hearts of all these young men and women who cling to the fringes of the glorious Alawite throne, or for the certification exams at the end of the year?
Parents of male and female swimmers complained about “the many postponements and random programming of the championships.” “This creates confusion in the training of most national teams, and reflects negatively on the level of swimmers,” stressing that “this matter was clearly evident when a large group of male and female swimmers stopped attending training due to the absence or postponement of competitions.”
Jalal Mounir, Vice President of the Moroccan Coordination of Parents of Male and Female Swimmers, said, “What has been witnessed in recent years is the large number of postponements, since the Moroccan Open Water Championship and the Open Water Throne Cup, without any subsequent dates or clear reasons.”
Mounir added, in a statement to Hespress, that “the postponements disrupted the training of male and female swimmers, and with the cancellation of the winter national championship that was scheduled to be held in January and February, the parents of male and female swimmers were greatly dissatisfied,” explaining that “the absence of competitions also harms swimmers morally, and there is an absence of motivation.” .
The spokesman confirmed that “the Moroccan teams have not played any competition since September, and parents receive news of the postponement as soon as any scheduled date approaches, without any justifications or respect for the preparations that the swimmers are making.”
He considered that “swimming in Morocco is heading towards the abyss after a series of unjustified postponements, and the results we are reaping are due to the continued absence of a Moroccan name in African competitions, unlike countries such as Egypt and Tunisia.”
Regarding the coincidence of the Throne Day tournament with the BAC exams, Mounir stressed that “the Royal Swimming University, after this series of postponements, considers the periods that coincide with the BAC exams, especially the Throne Cup, appropriate,” stressing that “this matter is unacceptable and will increase… Confusion of student swimmers.
The Moroccan Coordination Committee called on the parents of male and female swimmers to “issue the annual program by the end of September, and to respect its implementation on its specified dates,” instead of postponing it as happened this season, which affected “the Moroccan Winter Swimming Championship 23/24, the national team’s preparations for age groups, and the championship.” “Morocco Open Water 22/23, Throne Cup Open Water 22/23, the end of the Moroccan Water Polo Championship season 22/23, and the end of the Throne Cup 22/23, in addition to all water polo tournaments for the age groups under 13 and under 15.”
