Sutherland also holds the Australian record for fastest double century – 2024-02-17 15:20:56

Australian cricketer Annabelle Sutherland has set the record for the fastest double century in the history of women’s Test cricket. The 22-year-old cricketer reached the milestone of a double century by playing 248 balls.

Earlier in 2001 former Australian cricketer Karen Rolton recorded the fastest double century. He scored a double century off 306 balls.

Sutherland achieved this feat on the second day of the only Test in Perth against the South Africa Women’s team on Friday. In this match he got out after scoring 210 runs off 256 balls.

Australia set another record on Sutherland’s record day. Australia played the highest innings in the history of Test cricket by bowling out South Africa for 76 runs in the first innings.

Australia announced the innings by picking up 575 runs for 9 wickets in this match. However, the previous record also belongs to Aussies. In 1998, they declared an innings against England with 569 runs for 6 wickets.

After bowling out South Africa for 76 runs in the first innings, Australia lost 3 wickets for 12 runs in their first innings.

From there, Alisha Healy paired with Beth Mooney to pull the team together. After 155 runs with Mooney, Healy scored another 82 runs with Sutherland. However, Healy had to return with the regret of not being able to score a century. He got out by following through to Delmi Tucker while driving to long on at the head of 99 runs.
