Suspect of Karam Khan who made ‘Imran Khan famous’ with a poem

Karam Khan, who belongs to Tehsil Matta of Swat, is a grocer by profession, but used to recite poetry and poems of political leaders in political meetings.

But look at the irony of the situation that these political poets have now become non-political and the reason is due to lack of resources, poor financial conditions and lack of support from political leaders.

63-year-old Karam Khan, a resident of Bedra area of ​​Tehsil Matta, has been writing poems and poetry for various political parties since 1965.

He wrote poems for Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Ayub Khan and Imran Khan and graced their meetings.

Interestingly, the political parties used to take this political poet to the meetings on a regular daily basis for wages, but sometimes after participating in the meetings, he was left there helpless, due to which he no longer became the highlight of the meetings. .

Karam Khan told Independent Urdu: ‘I have now boycotted going to various jalas as I don’t have clothes, caps, flags and other resources for the jalas.’

He further said: ‘Political workers and leaders used to make their meetings successful through me and then they did not even ask about my status.’

Karam Khan’s shop is in Chief Minister Mahmood Khan’s village in Tehsil Matta, where he prepares medicines from herbs and earns barely Rs 4-500 per day, barely supporting his household.

He said: ‘I requested support from philanthropists and leaders of political parties many times but no one did anything for me.’

According to Karam Khan, when he read the poem in front of President Ayub Khan on his visit to Swat, he praised him and had dinner with me. That day was the most beautiful and memorable day of my life. When Imran Khan entered politics, no one knew him, but when I wrote a poem for him, he became famous overnight.’

The poem he wrote for Imran Khan is in Pashto language and its words are as follows: ‘Dalta ki cha zamka cha asaman neveli de, Mongzana Mushar Imran Khan neveli de.’

That is, ‘Someone chose the earth for themselves and someone the sky, but we have chosen Imran Khan for ourselves.’

According to Karam Khan, he has sung poems for every party like People’s Party, Muslim League-N and other parties too, ‘whose leaders my eyes are longing to see.’
