Warranty and guarantee count, Viennese people want competent advice
Vienna (OTS) – Online trading is booming and anyone interested in a new car can find out about possible models and brands as well as the advantages, price and availability of the new vehicle they want on the Internet in advance. When deciding on a used car, the majority of Austrians still trust the car dealer. This is shown by the Integral survey* among 500 Austrian car owners commissioned by AutoScout24.
75 percent buy from the dealer, around one in two exclusively
When buying used cars, Austrians still trust dealers the most: 75 percent have already bought a used car from a dealer, and 46 percent of car owners have only done so from a dealer.
Warranty is a top argument, especially for older people
The most important criterion for buying from a specialist retailer is a warranty and guarantee for a whopping 73 percent. This is particularly true for 81 percent of the age group aged 50 and over, while it is only the salient argument for one in two people under 30. 81 percent of people who are not or not well connected to public transport place particular emphasis on the guarantee.
For around 40 percent, the testing and maintenance option in the dealer’s affiliated workshop is a decisive factor in their purchase. Around a third appreciate the convenience of the trade-in bonus, which makes the purchase price cheaper.
Financing options are important for families and young people
Families (28 percent) and young car buyers between the ages of 18 and 29 particularly value the financing option via credit or leasing from the dealer. However, this point counts most for four out of ten people who are specifically planning to buy a car in the coming year. For this group, the higher resale value of buying from a dealer is also particularly important.
Legal certainty such as the right of withdrawal and services when registering and insuring the car also make processing through the used car dealer more attractive for a fifth of those surveyed.
Viennese people in particular value professional advice
For a good quarter of those surveyed, personal advice from trained specialist staff is the big advantage when purchasing a used car from a dealer. Prospective buyers in the federal capital attach particular importance to this aspect, where for a good third of them it represents a real advantage from specialist dealers compared to purchasing a car from a private individual.
