Supporting PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024, IKA USU Jakarta Holds Fun Walk at CFD

The Alumni Association (IKA) of the University of North Sumatra (USU) Jakarta held a fun walk event at Car Free Day (CFD), Sunday (1/9/2024) morning WIB. This event was held as a form of support for the event PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra (North Sumatra) 2024.

The Bawaslu RI office located on Jalan MH Thamrin, Jakarta, is the starting point and finish point for the participants of the IKA USU Jakarta Fun Walk. Later, the participants will circle the HI Roundabout before finally returning to the Bawaslu office.

Monitoring at the location, USU alumni in Jakarta and its surroundings have started to crowd the location since 06.00 WIB. After the opening ceremony was carried out, the participants started the fun walk at 07.54 WIB.

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Baginda Siahaan, revealed that this event was held as a form of support for North Sumatra as the host of PON XXI. The form of support was very visible on the shirts they wore, where there was the logo of PON Aceh-Sumut 2024. Baginda also ensured that this fun walk event had no political elements.

“The purpose of this is to raise awareness of health. At the same time, we support the implementation of PON XXI which will be held in Aceh-North Sumatra. The way we promote this is that on our t-shirts there is a mascot from PON Aceh-North Sumatra,” said Baginda Siahaan in his speech.

“Considering that this is held at the Bawaslu office, we remind you that there are no campaign elements in any form regarding the implementation of the Pilkada. There are no political elements in any form. If this happens, Bawaslu will stop our event. Therefore, we as the committee will also act firmly and will not hesitate to stop this event if these things happen,” he continued.

The Fun Walk of IKA USU Jakarta was attended by approximately 1000 participants from all alumni classes and all faculties. The event was attended by USU Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M.Si, and the chairman of PP IKA USU, represented by Prof. Dr. Hasyim Purba, SH, M. Hum.

For your information, the opening of PON XXI Aceh-Sumut itself will be held on September 9, 2024 in Banda Aceh, Aceh Province. However, the medal fight has been carried out since August 28, 2024 because there are already sports that compete such as artistic gymnastics.

This is the first time that the biggest sporting event in Indonesia has been held in two provinces at once, namely Aceh and North Sumatra. This event will compete in more than 65 sports. It is known that Aceh is holding 33 sports involving 6,287 athletes and 3,158 officials. Meanwhile, North Sumatra will compete in 34 sports with 6,618 athletes and 3,320 officials.
