Support the Ciliwung Festival, Pertamina’s Ciliwung Blue Gate to Develop the River Ecosystem

DEPOK – PT Pertamina (Persero) takes part in environmental preservation, with the Clean Beautiful Lestari Rahayu Ciliwung Building Movement (Ciliwung Blue Gate). This program is included in the 2024 Ciliwung Festival which officially opened on Saturday (15/6/2024), in Omah Maja, Depok, West Java.

The Ciliwung Festival involves various stakeholders, in the Pentahelix scheme. Pentahelix involves five parties, namely academics, business people, government, society and community, and the media.

Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya hopes that the Pentahelix collaboration will continue to be maintained so that existing environmental programs can be realized widely.

“Today is part of the follow-up to the results of the Ministerial Declaration on Water For Shared Prosperity at the 10th World Water Forum 2024. One of the agreed commitments is to encourage conservation, protection and sustainability of water resources, including groundwater as an important element for human activities and ecosystem, especially surface water such as in rivers, through the development of sustainable water management. Thank you Pertamina and all community members, today’s activities are very encouraging,” said Nurbaya in her speech.

Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris added that collaboration with various sectors is really needed. In the future, not only the Ciliwung River but many rivers can be developed in the region.

“One of them is the Cisadane River, which is the largest river after Ciliwung whose use can be developed in Depok City,” said Idris.

On this occasion, Pertamina Main Director Nicke Widyawati said that Ciliwung could become a river that would have a good impact on society. Not only does it have a good social impact but also environmental, economic and educational impacts.

“Pertamina provides the Ciliwung Blue Gate program, which has three main pillars, namely the Clean Gate, the Beautiful Gate and the Rahayu Gate. We are implementing it in a pentahelix concept (collaboration with five parties) which will have an extraordinary impact,” said Nicke.

The development of the Blue Gate Program is focused on independent management by the community towards sustainable ecotourism. Ecoriparianism is the concept of returning rivers to their natural function, namely flowing river water continuously.

“Hopefully these programs run smoothly, please support and pray so that later we can create a prosperous society from the surrounding environment, in this case through the existence of the Ciliwung river,” said Nicke.
