6 Planets Aligned to Happen Today. PHOTO/DAILY
The planets in order are Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus, Mars, Neptune and Saturn. This natural phenomenon can be witnessed at night in Western countries.
Some experts say the alignment is difficult to detect but not impossible to see.
“Seeing the alignment will indeed be challenging because it occurs around sunrise and everything is relatively low in the East,” explained Professor Danny Steeghs from the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick, England, as reported by The Sun, Monday (3/6/2024)
This visual phenomenon differs from astronomical alignments, in which the planets converge on the sides of the Sun.
Those hoping to see it can do so if the sky is clear and the western horizon is nearly level.
It is important to keep the sky free of obstructions such as trees or buildings. To get the best view, stargazers are advised to use binoculars.
However, better equipment may be needed to detect Uranus and Neptune.
This phenomenon occurs because the orbital positions of these planets are parallel to the Earth and the Sun. Even though the six planets look aligned, keep in mind that they are not actually on the same straight line in space.
The best time to see this parade of planets is before dawn, around 04.00 to 05.30 local time. The planets will be visible in the northeast, near the horizon.
