Sultans beating Saraperos

A lethal ten-score rally at the end of the first inning, combined with a good performance by Tanner Anderson, who achieved his first victory of the season, Sultanes de Monterrey defeated Saraperos de Saltillo in the first duel of the series held in the Mobil Super Stadium, by a score of 14-5.

Tanner Anderson got his first win of the year after pitching five innings, allowing six hits and four runs (three earned) with three strikeouts. Henderson Álvarez took the fall after allowing seven runs and six hits in a retired third of an inning.

Ramiro Peña was the most valuable player of the game by going 4-for-4, connecting with one hit and producing five runs. In addition, with his second hit of the night, connected at the end of the first inning, he added his 500th hit for life in the Mexican Baseball League.

Added to Ramiro Peña’s home run, Romer Cuadrado and Nomar Mazara joined the party by depositing the ball on the other side of the fence, driving in three and two runs respectively in the game.

With this victory, Sultanes places their record at 6 wins and 1 loss and will seek to secure their third series in a row this Saturday when they face Saraperos in the second match of the series. The mountain duel will pit Stephen Tarpley (0-1, 1.80) for the royals against David Huff for the Coahuila people.
