Japan finally succeeded in launching a rocket into space. The country successfully launched the H-3 rocket into space on Saturday (February 17). The American media reported on CNN.
After last year’s failed attempt, they succeeded this time, the Japanese space agency said.
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) said in a statement on Saturday that the H-3 rocket was launched from the southern Tanegashima Space Launch Center at 9:22 am local time. As per the plan, the rocket has already reached the orbit successfully.
If successful, the H-3 rocket will be launched at least six times a year for the next two decades, JAXA said.
Earlier, Japan launched another rocket named H-3 in March, but it failed. JAXA said their attempt failed due to problems with the rocket’s fuel ignition.
The H-3 launch marks the second consecutive launch of a rocket into space (JAXA). The agency sent the SLIM lander to the moon last month.
The H-3 rocket, jointly developed by JAXA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, is the successor to the H-2A launch system that was developed in 2001.
After two previous failed launches, the H-3’s ignition system was improved. The rocket carries two small satellites. Each of these two satellites will send different images that are expected to contribute to disaster prevention. A sensor is attached to another satellite to detect infrared rays.
