A four-year-old girl was stabbed multiple times yesterday inside a home in Paterson, New Jersey.
An ambulance responded to the scene around 4 p.m. Friday. Neighbors on East 24th St and 10th Av said the girl’s mother frantically carried her out, covered in blood. The unidentified girl arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in stable condition.
The attack was apparently the result of a family dispute inside the house. The suspect is an aunt of the girl who has emotional problems.
“It was the aunt who committed this crime and she is on the loose. They are trying to locate her… she was not there at the time the officers were dispatched,” Councilman Luis Velez told ABC News.
Neighbors say the aunt was often seen waking up and walking up and down the block while talking to herself. People are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
