The vast majority of passengers affected by the strike have now been rebooked and will arrive at their destination today. They either travel on another flight of Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa Group or with another airline.
Later in the day, further consultations are planned between management and the unions. “After yesterday’s constructive meeting, we are hopeful that we can continue on this path. We think it is positive that all unions are sitting around the table, including the Christian union that is on strike today,” said Nico Cardone of Brussels Airlines.
A three-day strike by flight attendants at Brussels Airlines started today. The action is an initiative of the Christian trade union. Brussels Airlines cabin crew have been dissatisfied with pay and workload for some time. There has also been social unrest among the airline’s other employee categories, pilots and ground staff, for some time. And not just at Brussels Airlines, by the way. A three-day strike by ground staff at the German parent company Lufthansa, initiated by the Verdi union. That strike, which revolves around wages, would have no consequences for passengers.
